Codema and Dublin City Council win at CELSIUS Awards!

29th November, 2017

We are delighted to announce that Codema and Dublin City Council scooped the top prize at the CELSIUS Awards in the 'Getting Started' category earlier this week.  The award was for our work on the Dublin District Heating System (DDHS), which will not only influence district heating in the Dublin area, but also across the country and Europe, in order to prove that this type of technology is a viable heat solution for Ireland and other European countries.

The winners were announced at a gala dinner on Monday, November 27th, at the CELSIUS Summit conference.  The CELSIUS Awards recognise CELSIUS Member Cities who have produced outstanding demonstrators, which are great examples of how to get started, building innovative district cooling, and realising an inspiring solution. These nominated and winning projects help lead the way for smart district energy systems across the EU, and in other parts of the world for many years to come.

About the 'Getting Started' category

One of the key pillars of the CELSIUS project is the need for tailored solutions. Each city has its own set of conditions and challenges, and one of the most formidable hurdles can be the very first one – getting a district energy network off the ground, or rather, into the ground. It can be more challenging to build the city’s very first district energy network than to expand an existing bigger system. With this prize, the CELSIUS Awards highlight and commend the efforts of the Member City who has taken on this challenge: local pioneers who have demonstrated that they mean business in working towards a resource-efficient city through district heating and cooling by building their first network.

We are delighted to accept this award with Dublin City Council and look forward to progressing our work on the DDHS in 2018!
