About this team
Our Energy Management team provides a range of high-quality services to local authorities in the Greater Dublin Area in the areas of energy management and energy monitoring. Our support helps local authorities in Dublin, Kildare, Wicklow and Meath to stay on track and exceed public sector energy and carbon targets and all other energy and emission obligations. We strive to ensure that these local authorities are exemplars in the field of energy management.
The team monitors and analyses energy use in each of the local authorities. We identify ‘Significant Energy Users’ (SEUs) to help track the areas in each council that use the most energy and produce the most emissions. This allows us to give an overview of the current energy use associated with each SEU, and provide recommendations on the actions each council must take to reduce energy consumption and meet public sector targets.
We drive the implementation and maintenance of Energy Management Systems across the local authorities. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Fingal County Council have successfully achieved and maintained ISO 50001 certification, while Dublin City Council and South Dublin County Council are currently going through this certification process.

Conor joined the team in February 2022. He holds a BE in Biosystems Engineering from UCD, a MSc in Energy Management from DIT and is both a Certified Measurement & Verification Professional and a Certified Energy Manager. Before working at Codema, Conor was the Energy Credits Programme Manager in ESB Smart Energy Services. Conor also spent several years working at Crowley Carbon as the Measurement and Verification (M&V) Lead for North and South America. Before this, he worked as Energy Engineer with Modus Energy on delivery of M&V, S.I.426 audits and ISO 50001 implementation for Irish customers.

Maria joined the team in January 2022. She holds a Specialization in Operations Management and a BEng in Energy Technologies from Universidad Panamericana. In her previous job as energy engineer, she supported the technical team in the identification, analysis and calculations of energy savings projects and carbon emissions. Before moving to Ireland, she worked as energy engineer in the facilities department in Cooper Standard in Mexico, leading energy audits to identify significant users, tracked electricity and gas consumption, designed energy savings projects, monitored and forecasted energy consumptions and collaborated in ISO 14001 and 50001 implementation in her workplace.

Martin joined the Codema team in September 2023 as a Graduate Energy Engineer. He holds a MSc. Sustainable Energy Engineering degree from Trinity College Dublin. As part of his Masters, he conducted research on the use of ionic liquids as phase change materials for energy capture and storage in conjunction with photovoltaic cells. Previous to this, he completed his bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering from Warsaw University of Technology. During his final year of studies in Poland he worked on the application and design of building heating and cooling systems.
