Energy and Climate Awareness Officer

We are seeking a dynamic Energy and Climate Awareness Officer to lead impactful energy awareness programmes in Dublin.

Salary range: €42,000 - €47,000

About the role

This role offers a unique opportunity to shape and deliver energy awareness programmes that empower communities and make a meaningful impact on energy savings and climate action in Dublin. If you are passionate about driving positive change and have a natural talent for delivering talks and presentations, project coordination and growing new business, we want to hear from you.

This role involves leading Codema’s Think Energy campaign and managing the award-winning Home Energy Saving Kit programme, with a strong focus on business growth, stakeholder and community engagement, and project coordination. Key responsibilities include delivering talks, presentations and training, organising and/or participating in workshops and events on behalf of the Dublin Local Authorities and other stakeholders in Dublin, and project managing all aspects of the Home Energy Saving Kit initiative.

The successful candidate will also develop strategies to expand the programme’s reach, revenue, and impact. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference in energy awareness and climate action, while driving innovation and growth.

Please note that within the tasks outlined below, Codema’s senior management team will support the selected candidate in setting realistic and achievable objectives and key results for each year.

What you will do

Energy awareness, promotion and events:

With support from Codema’s Communications and Marketing and Public and Stakeholder Engagement Teams, you will:

  • Act as the face of Codema’s energy awareness initiatives, delivering impactful talks, workshops, and demonstrations to empower Dublin communities and stakeholders to save energy and reduce emissions.
  • Lead the promotion and development of the Home Energy Saving Kit scheme:
    • Serve as an ambassador to increase awareness locally and nationally.
    • Deliver training to libraries and partner organisations.
    • Support public awareness campaigns (including workshops, training, and presentations) under the Think Energy banner.
  • Advance the Think Energy campaign to promote energy awareness across communities, organisations, and the public through:
    • Promotional campaigns, events, workshops, website content, and social media engagement.
  • Support Dublin local authorities in delivering key events and programmes such as Dublin Climate Action Week.
  • Deliver tailored energy awareness talks and proposals for private-sector audiences.
  • Develop and disseminate educational resources (brochures, infographics, guides) to promote energy awareness.
  • Collaborate with Codema’s Public and Stakeholder Engagement team to drive awareness and support initiatives in decarbonisation zones and communities.
  • Identify and build partnerships with like-minded organisations to amplify energy action and awareness.
  • Represent Codema at high-profile events, promoting energy-saving initiatives and engaging stakeholders.
Strategic development

With support from Codema’s Senior Management Team, you will:

  • Develop and implement ambitious annual growth strategies for the Think Energy campaign and the Home Energy Saving Kit (HESK) to drive increased sales, revenue, and market expansion.
  • Pursue and secure partnerships with public and private sector organisations to generate new revenue streams, ensuring the financial sustainability and scalability of the Home Energy Saving Kit initiative.
  • Proactively position and tailor the Home Energy Saving Kit for new markets, including specialised offerings for audiences such as schools and businesses, to maximise uptake and commercial potential.
  • Identify and apply for national and EU funding to expand programme reach, while leveraging funding opportunities to support innovative growth projects and long-term financial development.
  • Develop and diversify sales channels to increase delivery of energy awareness services, establishing a robust pipeline of new clients and revenue opportunities.
Home Energy Saving Kit: project management and administration

With support from Codema’s Administration and Finance Team, you will:

  • Oversee all operational and administrative aspects of the Home Energy Saving Kit scheme:
    • Respond to HESK requests and manage order fulfilment.
    • Maintain inventory, track stock, and coordinate with suppliers.
    • Pack and assemble kits to meet delivery deadlines.
    • Collaborate with the finance team for payments and invoicing.
    • Track budgets, income, and expenditure.
    • Manage client databases and monitor programme effectiveness through feedback and surveys.
    • Provide ongoing support and training for library staff and key partners.
Digital activities

With support from Codema’s Communications and Marketing Team, you will:

  • Manage and update the thinkenergy.ie website with fresh, engaging content such as blogs, podcasts, and energy-saving tips.
  • Oversee the @energysavingkit social media channels, ensuring consistent, engaging content that drives significant year-on-year audience growth.
  • Manage and grow the Think Energy e-newsletter subscriber base.
  • Develop and implement an annual digital growth strategy to enhance engagement across platforms.

Minimum requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Degree in Communications / Marketing / Climate Change / Project Management / Environmental Science or similar discipline.
  • Proven experience in delivering engaging talks, presentations, workshops and events.
  • Proven experience in project coordination, particularly in energy awareness, education, or community engagement.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to engage diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to think strategically and identify growth opportunities for programmes and initiatives.
  • Strong time planning skills and the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organisational skills, including budget management and stock control.
  • Proficiency in digital media management, including website content management systems, social media channels and newsletter platforms such as MailChimp.
  • Passionate about sustainability, energy efficiency, and climate action.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in English is essential.

Additional skills that would be a distinct advantage

  • Experience with Canva, or other design / graphical software.
  • Experience in developing communications collateral, such as brochures, infographics, etc.
  • Event management experience is desirable but not essential.

Location

The Codema office is located at The Loft, 2 – 4 Crown Alley, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 and is only accessible via a staircase. The office is centrally located and accessible by a range of sustainable transport modes. Secure bicycle parking is available on-site and off-site in nearby public parking facility.
