E2-CUTIES

E2-CUTIES aims to empower local energy communities by creating a step-based roadmap and a method to create investment propositions, both of which will help communities to overcome common challenges.

About the project

E2-CUTIES looks to empower Local Energy Communities (LECs) by helping them overcome the common challenges faced in relation to governance, community inclusion, technical expertise and legal and financial barriers.

These four common challenges will be addressed through toolboxes of best practices, which will then be incorporated into a step-based roadmap for use by LECs.

This project will focus on new public-civic partnerships connecting energy cooperatives and local authorities. This approach will support Fingal County Council’s Balbriggan Decarbonising Zone strategies by facilitating co-creation activities with the community that will lead to prioritised climate actions for the local area.

Extensive stakeholder and community engagement will be carried out with Balbriggan Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) and the wider Balbriggan community to ensure that the plan and its associated actions are reflective of the wants and needs of the local area.

By the end of the project, the aim is to have an executable investment proposition for integrated energy systems in operation by the Balbriggan SEC.
