About the Home Energy Saving Kit

The award winning Home Energy Saving Kit is available to borrow, free of charge, from over two hundred public libraries across Ireland. The kit contains five tools to help you measure how your home is using energy, where energy might be escaping and how you can make easy changes to start saving right away.

Each kit has five tools to help you track your energy use, including:

  1. Thermal Leak Detector measure heat loss
  2. Plug-in Energy Monitor to measure your appliances’ energy use
  3. Temperature and Humidity Meter
  4. Fridge Freezer Thermometer to accurately measure the temperature inside your fridge and freezer
  5. Radiator Key for bleeding your radiators

There is also an additional exercise to measure your water flow rate. If you are a public library member, you can borrow the kit in much the same way as you borrow a book.
