Home Energy Saving Kits Launched in more Libraries

24th June, 2020

We are delighted to announce that due to huge demand, we have recently developed another 150 Home Energy Saving Kits, which will be launched into 9 new regions across Ireland, while also adding more kits to existing library networks.

The library networks / regions that will soon have Home Energy Saving Kits available for the public to borrow free-of-charge are:

  • Cork County Council (CARO)
  • Galway County Council
  • Wicklow County Council
  • Monaghan County Council
  • Carlow County Council
  • Meath County Council
  • Louth County Council
  • Waterford City & County Council
  • Westmeath County Council / Mullingar Library

Extra kits will also be made available in Dublin City Council's Public Libraries, DLR Libraries (Stillorgan and DLR LexIcon), Fingal Libraries (Balbriggan, Malahide and Rush), Kildare Libraries and Kilkenny Libraries and you can check back here soon for specific branch details.

It will bring to 19 the number of local authority regions / counties where the kits are available for the public to borrow from local libraries and a full list of library branches where the kits are currently available can be found here.

The Home Energy Saving Kit was launched in 2016 as a pilot scheme in Dublin City Council’s Public Libraries and since then has expanded to almost every public library in Dublin, and from a selection of other library networks across Ireland.

The kit contains a range of tools/exercises to help householders make sense of the energy they consume on a daily basis, and to identify possible problem areas such as poorly-insulated walls and appliances that are driving up electricity bills.
